Kemmerling, René, Dr.
Short Bio
René Kemmerling graduated in business administration (Dipl.-Kfm.) from the RWTH in Aachen, where he focused on management accounting, financial accounting, taxation and industrial law. Within the ERASMUS scholarship program he studied one year at the Quinn School of Business, University College Dublin. He gained practical experience through an apprenticeship with McKinsey & Co. prior to his studies and various internships with consulting and industrial firms in Germany and the United States (RölfsPartner, Rödl & Partner, Axle Alliance Company). Before pursuing a doctoral degree, he completed a two year trainee program in finance and accounting with AREVA Energietechnik GmbH in Frankfurt and Paris, and later took over the position as International Sales and Support Function Controller. Prior to joining the ETH, he was a research assistant at the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany.
For his doctoral dissertation entitled "The Organizational Visibility of Supply Chain Management Functions in Corporate Upper Echelons" René Kemmerling has been selected by APICS as the Winner of the 2011 George and Marion Plossl Dissertation Fellowship. This fellowship honors outstanding doctoral dissertation research that is relevant to the operations management discipline and that has the potential to yield novel managerial and practical insights.
