Short Bio

Andrew Kach is a Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at Willamette University's external pageAtkinson Graduate School of Management. Prior to Willamette, starting May 2012, Andrew was a senior researcher and lecturer at the Chair of Logistics Management at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. He obtained his PhD from New Mexico State University – College of Business and Economics in 2012. From 2009 to 2012, Andrew taught various courses at New Mexico State University, including Operations Management, Purchasing and Supply Management, Project Management, and Business Decision Analytics. He offered an MAS course on Quality Management and an MSc course on Purchasing and Supply Management at ETH Zurich.

His research interests in operations and supply chain management include institutional influences surrounding sustainability-oriented supply chain risks, the intersection between proactive environmental strategy and sustainable operations within developing countries, and the impact of environmental hostility on manufacturing capabilities and innovativeness. He has published articles in journals such as Organizational Research Methods, Decision Sciences, Journal of Business Logistics, Journal of Purchasing & Supply Management, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Annals of Operations Research, and R&D Management.

He currently serves on the editorial review board for the Journal of Business Logistics and the International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, officer and newsletter editor for the Academy of Management Operations Management division, as well as an ad hoc reviewer for Decision Sciences, Journal of Operations Management, R&D Management, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, and various other journals and conferences.
