Since 2017, Christian Busse is a full professor and holds the external pageChair of Sustainable Production Management  at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg. From 2013 to 2017, he was a Senior Researcher and Lecturer at the Chair of Logistics Management, where he also completed his Habilitation thesis entitled Perspectives on the Management of Sustainability in Global Supply Chains. Christian received his Ph.D. from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany in 2010 (graded “summa cum laude”) and holds a master's degree in industrial engineering and management from the Technical University of Berlin that was granted in 2002 (with highest distinction). From 2010 to 2013, Christian was the responsible project manager for a major research project on sustainable supply chain management at EBS University for Business and Law in Wiesbaden, Germany. Prior to pursuing his Ph.D., he worked as a management consultant for The Boston Consulting Group in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Christian's research interests relate to sustainable supply chain management, sustainable logistics, the interface between the organization and its environment, the research-practice gap and its mitigation, as well as to methodological questions. To date, his research has appeared in Decision SciencesInternational Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics ManagementJournal of Business LogisticsJournal of Industrial EcologyJournal of Supply Chain ManagementOrganizational Research Methods, as well as other journals. He has taught courses at all levels on Logistics Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Innovation, Supply Chain Controlling, Innovation Management, as well as Management Accounting and Control at various institutions in Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain and Switzerland. At ETH Zurich, he offered a M.Sc./M.A.S. course on Sustainable Supply Chain Management in the fall term.

Christian serves as an Associate Editor to the International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management (Outstanding Reviewer Award 2012) and the Journal of Supply Chain Management (Best Reviewer Award 2012). Moreover, he is a member of the Editorial Review Boards of Journal of Business Logistics (Outstanding Reviewer Award 2013) and Journal of Operations Management.
